I have been in this country – the U.S. – for 11 years, 1 month, 9 days and countless seconds. Integrated, adapted but sometimes still feeling fresh off the boat, the idea of this blog came from 11 years of random questions I was asked about my cultural heritage, my habits and why in the world do I have to be so French – even though I don’t think I am.
Recently, I was once again asked THE ultimate favorite question-without-an-answer: why aren’t Europeans fat? Why can they load on carbs, breads, pasta, French tarts and eat fat like there’s no tomorrow? How can they effortlessly look thin and most importantly is there a fat-bust-secret that we get to learn from our grandparents on their death beds?
While I don’t think there is a straight forward answer to all these questions, I thought that it was time to build something around that Europe vs. America theme… a blog!
Me – white male, 31-years-old, biculturally doubtful at times, middle name challenged, 5’10 and hovering between 155 and 157 lbs, 2 cats, no 6-pack, non-smoker, foodie by day (and night actually!) and travel expert with a big thirst for discoveries and new horizons.
With this blog I am taking on the (im-possible?) challenge to set some records straight on pre-conceived ideas about Europe and America through travels, eating, meeting new people and above all sharing experiences.
